Having resided in Maui since 1991, Carrll Robilotta has enjoyed creative writing since his high school days. A professional photographer, Carrll earns his living shooting mostly weddings, family portraits, and model portfolios.
"My family & I have lived in many different places and cultures over the years; i reckon the various influences of people & places play a role in my photography & writing,"
muses Carrll. As a column writer for a weekly paper on the Caribbean Island of Montserrat, Carrll gleaned valuable experience in journalism and enjoyed the loyal readership of that Island's community.
"The idea of publishing has always interested me. Maui has some terrific publications
but i haven't seen any specifically devoted to those with a passion for creative writing," he continues, "so i came up with the concept of Maui Scribe Quarterly."
Apart from photography & writing, Carrll enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including surfing, running, tennis, long-distance swimming, and yoga. He attends Kumulani Chapel
in Kapalua on a regular basis and enjoys the close friendships borne from that little church.
Kirk Hunt, and Curt Hanneman with having inspired him to develop business models that are not only driven by passion, but managed with integrity. "Mentors and friends like 'Papa Don' Sprenger, Jim Moberg, and Crosby Beam have also been instrumental to me
in developing the core values i adhere to for both my business and personal life,"
reflects Carrll.
"A key part of my mission statement revolves around fostering the God-given gifts and talents of those i come into contact with, and on a larger scale, the community i live in.
I reckon MSQ is an out-growth of that desire and [hopefully] a forum which Island scribes will find useful in their personal journeys as writers."
